UPPER EYELID SKIN EXCESS

ABOUT

Upper Eyelid Skin Excess

Excess upper eyelid skin that occurs with ageing and is known as dermatochalasis. This tends to show up first in the outer part of the eyelid where it is known as lateral hooding, before affecting the medial eyelid near the nose. As the dermatochalasis progresses, the upper eyelid excess can become so severe that it hangs below the eyelash margin and blocks one’s vision.

An upper blepharoplasty treats this by removing the excess upper eyelid skin. Sometimes a low brow position may aggravate the condition. If present, your plastic surgeon may recommend a brow lift. In lifting a low brow, the upper eyelid skin is pulled up reducing the redundancy.

🩺 A full evaluation with an MOH-accredited doctor is required to determine suitability for the procedure.
